A 25-mL round-bottomed flask was cooled to 0° C. and charged with 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-(4-(1-piperazinyl)phenyl)-2-propanol dihydrochloride (200 mg, 0.5 mmol, Example 91, Step 1), CH2Cl2 (5 mL) and triethylamine (0.35 mL, 2.5 mmol). 3-Methoxybenzenesulfonyl chloride (113 mg, 0.55 mmol, Sigma-Aldrich, St. Louis, Mo.) was added. After 10 min at 0° C., the reaction was concentrated onto silica gel and purified via column chromatography (40 g silica gel, 0 to 100% hexanes in EtOAc) to give 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-(4-(4-((3-methoxyphenyl)sulfonyl)-1-piperazinyl)phenyl)-2-propanol (120 mg).
