Procedure

4.44 parts by weight of bis-[1,3-diphenyl-imidazolidin-(2)-ylidene] and 3.86 parts by weight of 2-phenylindole in 20 parts by volume of dimethylformamide are heated under nitrogen for 5 hours to boiling point. A little unreacted bis-[ 1,3-diphenyl-imidazolidin-(2)-ylidene] is filtered off while still warm, the solvent is removed partly in vacuo and 2-(2-phenylindol-3-yl)-1,3-diphenyl-imidazolidine is obtained in the form of colourless crystals melting at 237°-238° C (from toluene) ##STR15##
