Procedure
A mixture of 370 mg of 6-fluoro-1-hydroxy-7-nitroquinoxaline-2,3-(1H,4H)-dione, 320 mg of imidazole and 37 ml of DMF was stirred at 100° C. for 4 hours. The reaction mixture was concentrated and, then, diluted with water. The aqueous layer was neutralized with hydrochloric acid and the resulting crystals were recovered by filtration and washed with water to provide 214 mg of 1-hydroxy-6-(1-imidazolyl)-7-nitroquinoxaline-2,3-(1H,4H)-dione 1/2 hydrate.
