Reaction Steps

To a solution of 1-(12-hydroxydodecyl)-2,6,6-trimethyl-1-cyclohexene (316 mg, 1.026 mmol) were added acetic anhydride (7 ml) and pyridine (7 ml). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour, then quenched with HCl 5%, extracted with ether, washed with water, dried with MgSO4 and concentrated in vacuo to obtain 1-(12-acetoxydodecyl)-2,6,6-trimethyl-1-cyclohexene as a colorless oil (353 mg, 98%).
