Procedure
Phenyl N-(4-Methyl-3-(4-methylpyrid-3-yl)phenyl)carbamate (D69) (0.5 g 0.0016 mole) in dry dimethylformamide (20 ml) was treated with 5-methoxy-6-trifluoromethylindoline (D11) (0.34 g, 0.0016 mole) under argon and heated to 100° C. for 6 hrs. The mixture was allowed to cool and evaporated to dryness in vacuo. The residue was dissolved in dichloromethane and the solution washed with 10% aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (2×20 ml) and then with saturated aqueous sodium chloride solution (30 ml). The organic phase was then dried (Na4SO4) filtered and evaporated to dryness. The residue was purified by flash chromatography on silica gel eluting with 1% methanol/dichloromethane. Trituration of the resulting residue with diethyl ether gave the title compound (E28) (0.326 g, 47%) m.p. 138-140° C.
