Procedure
A solution of 1.980 g (9.744 mM) of N-(2,3-epoxy-propan-1-yl)phthalimide and 1.73 g (10.7 mM) of 4-phenylpiperidine in 50 ml of ethanol was refluxed for one hour, at the end of which time the solvent was distilled off under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (hexane/ethyl acetate=3/1 to 1/1) and crystallized from diethyl ether-hexane to provide the title compound.
