Reaction Steps
Concentrated hydrochloric acid(0.8 ml) was added to a stirred solution of N-[3-(4-phenylmethyl-2-oxopiperazin-1-yl)propan-1-yl]-5-thia-1,8b-diazaacenaphthylene-4-carboxamide (300 mg, 0.670 mmol) in ethanol (5.0 ml) at room temperature. After stirring at room temperature for 1 hour, the reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo to give N-(3-(4-phenylmethyl-2-oxopiperazin-1-yl)propan-1-yl]-5-thia-1,8b-diazaacenaphthylene-4-carboxamide dihydrochloride as an orange amorphous powder (345 mg, 98%).
