Procedure
2-Methylthio-3-nitro-4-phenylpyrrole (3.00 g, 0.013 mol) was suspended in glacial acetic acid (200 ml), and 30% hydrogen peroxide (1,45 g, 0.013 mol) was added. The mixture was stirred at 80° for five hours, after which the mixture was evaporated to dryness and the solid residue was recrystallised from isopropanol to give 2-methylsulphinyl-3-nitro-4-phenylpyrrole (2.52 g), m.p. 197° dec.
Workup
- customafter which the mixture was evaporated to dryness
- customthe solid residue was recrystallised from isopropanol
