Procedure
8.9 g (0.15 mol) of propylamine are added dropwise to a solution of 15.2 g (0.1 mol) of 2-(dimethylphosphinoyl)-2-hydroxy-acetic acid in 30 ml of water. The temperature thereby rises from 23° C. to 38° C. The mixture is stirred at 25° C. for one hour and concentrated on a rotary evaporator and the residue is dehydrated for distillation several times with toluene. After removal of the toluene under a high vacuum, a syrup of nD22 =1.4869 initially forms, and solidifies as a wax after prolonged standing.
