Reaction Steps
A solution of 2-methyl-5-(4-methyl-1-piperazinyl)-11H-1,2,4-triazolo-[2,3-c][1,3]benzodiazepine in isopropanol is treated with a solution of an equimolar quantity of maleic acid in isopropanol to give 2-methyl-5-(4-methyl-1-piperazinyl)-11H-1,2,4-triazolo[2,3-c][1,3]-benzodiazepine monomaleate, m.p. 206°-208°, representing a salt of the compound of formula I wherein R1 and R2 =CH3, R3 -R6 =H and CnH2n =CH2CH2.
