Reaction Steps
Adding 2-ethyl-2-oxazoline to hot (150°) phenol and maintaining heating at about 175° for 16 additional hours. The oil is then quenched in water to give N-(2-phenoxyethyl)propionamide (IV) in approximately 90% yield.
