Reaction Steps
To a solution of the ester obtained from Step A (66 mg, 0.13 mmol) in methanol (1.5 ml) is added 5N NaOH (0.3 ml, 1.5 mmol), and the mixture stirred for 20 hours at ambient temperature. The mixture is poured into 1N HCl (20 ml), then extracted with ethyl acetate (2×15 ml). The combined ethyl acetate extracts were washed with water, brine, dried (Na2SO4), and concentrated to a foam (62 mg, 97%.
