Procedure

A mixture of tert-butyl [6-(aminocarbonyl)-4-(2-fluorophenyl)-2-isobutylquinolin-3-yl]methylcarbamate (0.32 g, 0.70 mmol) and trifluoroacetic acid (4 ml) was stirred at room temperature for 1 hr. The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure and the residue was partitioned between ethyl acetate-tetrahydrofuran (1:1, 50 ml) and 10% aqueous potassium carbonate solution (50 ml). The organic layer was washed with saturated brine (15 ml) and dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure and the residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography. The obtained crude crystals were recrystallized from n-hexane-ethyl acetate to give the title compound (0.15 g, yield 61%) as colorless crystals.
