Benzyl (1,4-dioxan-2-ylmethyl)methylcarbamate (Enantiomer A, 2.9 g, 10.9 mmol) was dissolved in 50 mL dry ethanol. 10% (w/w) palladium on carbon (0.29 g) and 1.0 mL 10N HCl were added. The flask was sealed and flushed with hydrogen. Stirred solution under a hydrogen balloon. After 12 hours, the solution was filtered through celite and concentrated in vacuo to afford the title compound. 1H NMR (600 MHz, D6-DMSO) {dot over (δ)} 8.64 (s, 2H); 3.82-3.75 (m, 2H); 3.69 (d, 1H); 3.64 (d, 1H); 3.59 (m, 1H); 3.44 (m, 1H); 3.22 (t, 1H); 2.94-2.84 (m, 2H); 2.51 (s, 3H).
