Procedure
A solution of 1-({[(3S)-tetrahydrofuran-3-yloxy]carbonyl}oxy)pyrrolidine-2,5-dione (U.S. Pat. No. 6,344,465) (55 mg, 0.24 mmol), amine dihydrochloride II (100 mg, 0.199 mmol) and N,N-diisopropylethylamine (0.14 mL, 0.80 mmol) in acetonitrile (3 mL) was stirred overnight at rt. The solvent was removed at reduced pressure and the remaining material was dissolved in dichloromethane, washed with saturated sodium bicarbonate solution and dried over magnesium sulfate. Filtration and evaporation of the dichloromethane solution provided the crude product which was purified by chromatography on silica gel eluting with 5% methanol/dichloromethane. Title compound in example 692 was obtained as a white hygroscopic powder (70 mg, 65%). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 7.66 (d, 1H, J=8 Hz), 7.37 (m, 2H), 7.30-7.20 (m, 4H), 7.16 (m, 2H), 5.25 (m, 1H), 4.61 (m, 1H), 3.85 (m, 4H), 3.73 (m, 2H), 3.22 (m, 4H), 2.58 (br s, 3H), 2.36 (m, 2H), 2.17 (m, 3H), 2.05-1.70 (m, 13H).
