HCl in dioxane (50 ml) was added to a solution of 7-[2-(4-Fluoro-benzenesulfonylamino)-ethyl]-9-oxa-3,7-diaza-bicyclo[3.3.1]nonane-3-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (4 g; see step (ii) above) in dry dioxane (50 ml) at RT and the reaction mixture was stirred at RT for 1 h. Dioxane was decanted, precipitated solid was washed with dry diethyl ether (three times) and dried under vacuum to give the title compound as pale yellow solid. Yield: 3.55 g
