To a solution of 2-benzo[d]isoxazol-3-yl-ethanol (0.537 g, 3.29 mmol, from step (i) above ) and triethylamine (0.55 mL, 3.95 mmol) in dichloromethane (20 mL) was added methanesulfonyl chloride (0.31 mL, 3.95 mmol) at 0° C. The reaction mixture was stirred for 1 hour and was then extracted with water (2×20 mL) and brine (20 mL). The organic layer was dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated in vacuo, which afforded 818 mg (98%) of the title compound.
