Procedure
A 2.0 g (8.32 mmol) quantity of 2,2-dimethyl-3-[O-(methyl carbamoyl)oximino]-2,3-dihydroimidazo[2,1-b]thiazole was dissolved in 300 ml of ethylacetate. The solution was cooled to -15° before 1.33 g (17.5 mmol) of peracetic acid was added. The reaction mixture was allowed to warm to 25° and stirred for 1 d, followed by concentration to ca. 100 ml and placing in the freezer overnight. The precipitate was collected to give 1.5 g (70%) of product. m.p. 147.5°-149°.
