Reagents, catalysts & solvents 4
Procedure
o-cresol, methanol and water in a molar ratio of 1:2,5:2,5 were reacted in the same way as in Example 1. The catalyst consisted of iron oxide, zirconium oxide, chromium oxide and lanthanium oxide in a molar ratio of 100:3:2:0,5. After working up, 2,6-xylenol was obtained with a selectivity of 98,2%.
