To a solution of 5-phenyl-2-(2,2,5-trimethyl-1,3-dioxan-5-yl)quinazolin-4(3H)-one (0.22 g, 0.62 mmol) in MeCN (10 mL) at room temperature was added DBU (0.24 g, 1.57 mmol) and BOP reagent (0.36 g, 0.81 mmol). Upon completion of addition, the reaction mixture was stirred for 30 min. Aminomethylpyridine (0.11 ml, 1.13 mmol) was added and the resulting mixture was stirred for an additional 16 h. After this time, the reaction mixture was concentrated and purified by silica gel column chromatography (2% MeOH in DCM) to provide 5-phenyl-N-(pyridin-2-ylmethyl)-2-(2,2,5-trimethyl-1,3-dioxan-5-yl)quinazolin-4-amine (0.18 g, 68% yield) as a white solid. LCMS Method V: retention time 2.21 min, [M+1]=531.2.
