Procedure

To 6.29 g of 2-acetyl-N-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yloxy)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-7-carboxamide are added 57 ml water, 88 ml methanol and 1.4 g DowexWX2-100. The mixture is stirred overnight at ambient temperature and filtered. The filtrate is evaporated and 4.17 g of the title compound as a yellow solid are obtained. MP 177-181° C.
