A mixture of 5 g benzyl 6-[(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yloxy)carbamoyl]-3,4-dihydroisoquinoline-2(1H)-carboxylate, 250 mg Pd/C (5%), 250 ml ethanol and 5 ml triethylamine is hydrogenated at ambient hydrogen pressure. The reaction mixture is filtered, evaporated and 3.05 g of yellowish foam are obtained.
