Procedure

To a solution of 2-amino-5-benzo[1,3]dioxol-5-ylmethyl-[1,2,4]triazolo[1,5-c]quinazoline-9-carbonitrile (0.07 g, 0.20 mmol), prepared as described in Example 25, in a mixture of tetrahydrofuran (5 mL) and methanol (5 mL), were sequentially added cobalt(II) chloride (0.11 g, 0.81 mmol) and sodium borohydride (0.03 g, 0.81 mmol). The reaction was stirred at room temperature overnight, then the solvent was evaporated. The residue was dissolved in CHCl3/CH3OH 9/1 and washed with ammonium hydroxide solution (pH 12). The organic phase was dried over Na2SO4, filtered and evaporated to obtain a crude which was purified by preparative HPLC to give the title compound (0.01 g, 7% yield).
