A mixture of 1-(1,1-dimethylethyl) 4-(4-carboxy-2-oxazolyl)-1-piperidinecarboxylate (600 mg, 2.02 mmol), 1-[3-(dimethylamino)propyl]-3-ethylcarbodiimide hydrochloride (425.57 mg, 2.22 mmol) and N-methylmorpholine (224.55 mg, 2.22 mmol) in 4 mL dichloromethane was stirred for 15 minutes at room temperature. To the reaction mixture was added 424 mg (2.63 mmol) of (1R)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-N-methyl-1-naphthalenamine was added and the reaction mixture was stirred for 16 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure, and the residue was purified by silica gel chromatography using 25-75% of ethyl acetate in hexanes as eluant to give 360 mg of the title compound as an oil.
