A solution of methyl 1-[1-[[5-methyl-3-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-pyrazol-1-yl]acetyl]-4-piperidinyl]-1H-pyrazole-3-carboxylate (320 mg, 0.8 mmol) (i.e. the product of Example 18, Step D) in 8 mL of methanol was cooled to 0° C. and 1 M aqueous sodium hydroxide solution (1.6 mL, 1.6 mmol) was gradually added. The reaction mixture was stirred at 50° C. for 16 h, and 1 M aqueous hydrochloric acid (1.6 mL, 1.6 mmol) was added followed by 5 mL of saturated aqueous solution of sodium chloride. The resulting mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate, and the extract was dried over magnesium sulfate and evaporated in vacuo to give 270 mg of the title compound as a glassy solid.
