Procedure

Ethyl 2-[1-[[5-methyl-3-(trifluoromethyl)-1H-pyrazol-1-yl]acetyl]-4-piperidinyl]-2H-1,2,3-triazole-4-carboxylate (0.35 g, 0.82 mmol) (i.e. the product of Example 32, Step B) was dissolved in a mixture of methanol (5 mL) and tetrahydrofuran (2 mL). A 1 N aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide (1.6 mL, 1.6 mmol) was added to the reaction mixture and the mixture was stirred overnight. The reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo and the residue was dissolved in water. The aqueous layer was washed with diethyl ether and the aqueous layer was acidified with concentrated hydrochloric acid to pH 1, and extracted with dichloromethane and then chloroform. The combined organic layers were dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated in vacuo to afford 0.27 g of the title compound as a white solid.
