A solution of ethyl 6-chloro-4-(4-(morpholine-4-carbonyl)phenylamino)nicotinate (300 mg, 0.770 mmol) in EtOH (6 mL) and THF (6.00 mL) was treated with 30% aqueous sodium hydroxide (2 mL, 26.0 mmol) and stirred at rt for 3 hrs. Remove most of the solvent on rotary evaporator and acidified with 1N HCl (no precipitate formed) and extracted into CH2Cl2 several times and the combined extracts were concentrated to give 240 mg of 6-chloro-4-(4-(morpholine-4-carbonyl)phenylamino)nicotinic acid. LCMS: (M+H)+=362.02, 363.93 (Cl pattern).
