Trifluoroacetic acid (2 mL, 26.0 mmol) was added dropwise to a solution of tert-butyl 3-phenyl-1-oxa-2,7-diazaspiro[4.5]dec-2-ene-7-carboxylate (270 mg, 0.853 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (5 mL) at room temperature. After 1 h at room temperature, the mixture was concentrated to give the expected product as TFA salt (280 mg, 99% yield). LCMS: (M+H)+=217.15. 1H NMR (400 MHz, methanol-d4) δ ppm 7.62-7.78 (2H, m), 7.36-7.51 (3H, m), 3.35-3.49 (4H, m), 3.00-3.24 (2H, m), 2.04-2.22 (2H, m), 1.85-2.07 (2H, m).
