A slurry of 2-bromo-N-(3-(quinoxalin-2-yl)phenyl)acetamide (207 mg, 0.605 mmol) and sodium thiomethoxide (127 mg, 1.82 mmol) in ethanol (10 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 18 hrs. The reaction mixture was diluted with water (10 mL) and ethyl acetate (50 mL), the organic phase was separated, dried over sodium sulphate and evaporated in vacuo to afford 2-(methylthio)-N-(3-(quinoxalin-2-yl)phenyl)acetamide (140 mg, 75% yield). LCMS calculated for C17H15N3OS (M+H): 310.39. found 310. 1H-NMR (DMSO-d6, 400 Mhz) δH: 10.30 (1H, br.), 9.53 (1H, s), 8.53 (1H, m), 8.12-8.18 (2H, m), 8.05-8.08 (1H, m), 7.84-7.95 (3H, m), 7.55-7.60 (1H, m), 3.35 (2H, s), 2.22 (3H, s).
