Procedure

A solution of the above [4-(N-hydroxycarbamimidoyl)-phenyl]-acetic acid methyl ester (2.0 g, 9.61 mmol) in 2 M aq. HCl is stirred at 65° C. for 16 h, then at 80° C. for 24 h before it is concentrated and dried to give sufficiently pure title compound (2.0 g) as a white solid; LC-MS: tR=0.34 min, [M+1]+=195.07.
