Reaction Steps
2-(3-Fluorophenoxy)benzeneacetonitrile (23 g.), dissolved in 80 ml of ethanol, was heated to reflux for 2 hours with a solution of 20 g. potassium hydroxide in 40 ml of water. The ethanol was evaporated, the residue taken up in water, extracted with ether and acidified to give the title compound, m.p. 81°-84°. ##STR14##
