When 2-[(4-methyl-1H-imidazol-5-yl)methylthio] ethylamine [prepared according to the procedure described in U.S. Pat. No. 3,950,353] is reacted with 1-cyano-2-ethoxy-2-propynylaminoethylene [prepared by the reaction of propargylamine with 1-cyano-2,2-bis(methoxy)ethylene, itself prepared by the procedure described in J. Am. Chem. Soc., 71, 47 (1949)], the title product is produced.
