The 3-piperidino-4-nitro-2-(2'-oxocyclohexyl)quinoline (8.5 g, 0.024 mol) was dissolved in tetrahydrofuran (50 ml) and subjected to reduction in the presence of 10g palladium-on-carbon (1.2 g). After completion of the reaction, the palladium-on-carbon catalyst was filtered off and the mother liquor was concentrated. Following purification by chromatography on an alumina column using chloroform as a developing solvent, recrystallization from ethanol was conducted to obtain 4-amino-3-piperidino-2-(2'-oxocyclohexyl)quinoline in an amount of 6.1 g (yield, 74%).
