Procedure
To a suspension of 0.443 g of the 7-amino-3-thiadiazole benzyhydryl ester obtained in Example 78 in 2 ml of anisole is added 3 ml of trifluoroacetate acid under stirring and ice-cooling. After 30 minutes, the solvent is distilled off under reduced pressure. The residue is dissolved in 10% hydrochloric acid and the solution is neutralized with a saturated aqueous solution of sodium bicarbonate. The formed precipitates are filtered, and washed with water, acetone and then ether to give 0.21 g of 7-amino-3-(5-methyl-1,3,4-thiadiazol-2-yl)-3-cephem-4-carboxylic acid.
