Lithium aluminum hydride (1.0 M in THF, 0.02 mL, 0.02 mmol) was added to a solution of {4-[(R)-2-oxo-6-(3-oxo-4-phenyl-butyl)-piperidin-1-yl]-butoxy}-acetonitrile (15.7 mg, 0.044 mmol) in THF (0.75 mL) at 0° C. After 2 h at 0° C. the reaction was quenched with saturated aqueous NH4Cl (5 mL) and extracted with (3×5 mL). The combined organic phase was dried (Na2SO4), filtered and concentrated in vacuo to afford 12.3 mg (78%) of the title compound.
