To a stirring solution of the compound of Example 4 (22 mg) in dichloromethane (2 ml) was added trifluoroacetic acid (1 ml). The resulting solution was stirred at room temperature for 1 hr before concentrating in vacuo. The residue was then purified using preparative HPLC to give 4-[4-(2-carboxy-ethyl)-piperazin-1-yl]-6-(3-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-pyrimidine-2-carbonitrile trifluoroacetic acid salt as a white solid (8.5 mg).
