Following the same procedure as for 9a. From 4-Methoxy-2-[2-phthalimido-1-(2,3,5,6-tetrahydropyran-2-yl)oxyethyl]-7-azaindole (2.9 g, 10 mmol) in EtOH (100 ml) and NH2NH2.H2O (420 μl, 15 mmol). After a reaction time of 3 h. a diastereomeric mixture (1:1) of 9b (1.9 g, 95%) was obtained.
