Reaction Steps

A mixture of 1-(1-adamantylcarbonyl)-4-(4-hydroxybutyl) thiosemicarbazide (H) (471 mg, 1.45 mmol) and 2 N NaOH (12 mL) was heated under reflux in a N2 atmosphere for 1.5 h. The cooled reaction was acidified with conc. HCl to pH 4. The precipitated solid was filtered, washed with water and dried to give 4-[3-(1-adamantyl)-5-mercapto-4H-1,2,4-triazol-4-yl] butan-1-ol (3-36).
