2-Chloropyridine-4-carbonyl chloride (0.61 g) was added to a stirred mixture of 3-(5-amino-2-methylphenyl)-6-(4-methylpiperazin-1-yl)-3,4-dihydroquinazolin-4-one (1 g), triethylamine (1 g) and methylene chloride (15 ml) and the resultant mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 18 hours. The mixture was washed with a saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution and the organic phase was evaporated. There was thus obtained the title compound (1.28 g); NMR Spectrum: (DMSOd6) 2.05 (s, 3H), 2.22 (s, 3H), 2.46-2.5 (m, 4H), 3.25-3.28 (m, 4H), 7.42-7.47 (m, 2H), 7.62 (s, 1H), 7.76-7.79 (m, 2H), 7.85 (d, 1H), 7.98 (s, 1H), 8.07 (s, 1H), 8.61 (d, 1H), 10.65 (s, 1H); Mass Spectrum: M+H+ 489 & 491.
