To 16.52 g (0.074 mole) of 9-fluorenylisothiocyanate in ether is added excess anhydrous NH3 with cooling. The reaction mixture is capped and allowed to stand overnight at 0° C. Filtration gives the product, N-(9-fluorenyl)-thiourea, m.p. (158°) 182°-189° C.
