Procedure
4.5 g of 1-[[(benzyloxycarbonyl)amino]-methyl]-8-chloro-6-phenyl-4H-s-triazolo[4,3-a][1,5]benzodiazepin-5-one in 60 ml acetic acid saturated with hydrogen bromide is stirred at 20° for 1 hour. The reaction mixture is concentrated to one-half its original volume in vacuo and diluted with ether. The precipitate is filtered off, suspended in methylene chloride and shaken with excess 2 N aqueous sodium bicarbonate. The organic phase is separated, washed with water, dried and evaporated to give the title compound.
