Procedure
2.7 g of N-methylaniline are added dropwise to a solution of 2.95 g of 1,3-dimethyl-4-[(2-nitrophenyl)amino]pyrazole-5-carboxylic acid chloride in 10 ml of dioxane, and the resulting mixture is warmed at 90° C. for 1 hour. The solution is concentrated in vacuo, and water and a little dilute hydrochloric acid are added to yield 3.1 g of N,1,3-trimethyl-4-[(2-nitrophenyl)amino]-N-phenylpyrazole-5-carboxamide.
