Reaction Steps

4-(Trifluoromethyl)phenylacetonitrile (6.0 g.) in 5 ml. dimethylformamide-dimethylacetal was refluxed for 2 hours. Water was added and the final product was filtered, dried, and identified by NMR analysis.
