Reaction Steps
Dissolve ethyl N-[2,6-dimethyl-4-(hexafluoro-2-hydroxy-2-propyl)phenyl]glycinate (3.1 g, 8.3 mmol) in 25 ml 1.0 N NaOH. After 1 hour, add 25 ml 1.0 N NCl and extract with ethyl acetate. Dry and concentrate. Recrstyallize from chloroform-benzene to give the title compound as beige solid, m.p. 153°-155° C. dec.
