Procedure
A solution of 36 mg of 2-{[4-chloro-1-(1-isopropyl-piperidin-4-ylmethoxy)-naphthalene-2-carbonyl]-amino}-2-methyl-butyric acid ethyl ester in 3 mL THF and 1 ml MeOH was treated with 3 mL of 2 M aqueous sodium hydroxide. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 40 hours. The organic solvent was removed in vacuo. The residue was taken up in 6 ml of water, treated with 2 M hydrochloric acid to adjust the pH to 6˜7, then extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic phase was washed with brine, dried over sodium sulphate and concentrated to give 32 mg of 2-{[4-Chloro-1-(1-isopropyl-piperidin-4-ylmethoxy)-naphthalene-2-carbonyl]-amino}-2-methyl-butyric acid.
