To a mixture of (tetrahydro-2H-pyran-2-yl)methanol (369 mg, 3.17 mmol) and di(1H-imidazol-1-yl)methanone (1.03 g, 6.35 mmol) was added 10.5 mL of CH2Cl2. The reaction was stirred at 50° C. for 3 hours. The reaction mixture was used without further purification. LC/MS: m/z 211.1 (M+H)+ at 0.94 min (10%-99% CH3CN (0.035% TFA)/H2O (0.05% TFA)).
