A suspension of [3-methoxy-4-(4-methyl-imidazol-1-yl)-phenyl]-thiourea (131 mg, 0.50 mmol) and ethyl bromopyruvate (74 μl, 0.50 mmol) in EtOH (3 ml) was stirred at 60° C. for 18 hours. The solid was filtered off and washed with cold EtOH, then dried in vacuo to give the title compound as light brown solid (130 mg, 72%). MS ISP (m/e): 359.1 (100) [(M+H)+].
