Reaction Steps

Dissolve the compound obtained in Step B (1.14×10−3 mol) in an acetonitrile/water (40 ml/8 ml) mixture. Add lithium hydroxide (1.14×10−2 mol) and heat at 50° C. with stirring. After heating for 2 hours, the reaction mixture is poured into water (100 ml). Extract 3 times with ethyl acetate (50 ml). The organic phase is then washed with water and then with brine, dried over magnesium sulphate, filtered and evaporated to dryness under reduced pressure.
