In a flame dried round-bottomed flask equipped with a magnetic stir bar and under inert atmosphere (N2), 4-(2-methyl-[1,3]dioxolan-2-yl)-pyridine-2-carbaldehyde (195 mg, 1.01 mmol) was dissolved in MeOH (5 mL). NaBH4 (49 mg, 1.25 mmol) was added portionwise at 0° C. and the reaction mixture was stirred at rt for 1 h. Water was added and the mixture extracted with EA (3×10 mL). The combined org. extracts were dried over Na2SO4, filtered, and the solvents were removed under reduced pressure to give the title compound as a yellow oil. LC-MS-conditions 02: tR=0.41 min; [M+H]+=196.51.
