To a solution of (aminomethyl)trimethylsilane (Fluka) (1.6 g, 16 mmol) in dichloromethane (100 mL) was added 3-chloro-benzaldehyde (Aldrich) (1.9 g, 14 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for 3 h. Water was added. The organic layer was separated, washed with brine, dried over MgSO4, and concentrated to give [1-(3-chloro-phenyl)-meth-(E)-ylidene]-trimethylsilanylmethyl-amine as a colorless oil (3 g, 95%).
